in the context of the song, "we could something else" is not a lazy placeholder lyric, rather, he's saying we could/should do anything else than have belief in something that doesn't force us to look deeper while we're actually here.

Yes I understand what it means, it's still awkward and stupid sounding

this one is truly baffling.

he could have easily thrown another word in there to have it make sense.. "do", "try".. something monosyllabic

we could something else is more pithy than we could try something else.

I think most are probably making these posts with some humor. Welcome to RM.
All these newcomers showing up for gigaton have nooooooooo idea what they’ve gotten themselves into
better question is what do those people who have had accounts since 2013 but only post for new albums think. it's much like visiting a land-locked tide pool once every seven years and being surprised at the mutations that have taken place.
Or maybe even before 2013

Much as Pearl Jam album announcements/releases are signposts in my life, so are the surrounding weeks when I pop in here and see how everyone's been feeling for the past three or six years.

Right. My decline in activity on here correlates with kids. I'm at 3 under 6 now... new music was a good excuse to neglect them for a bit.
