Re: RANK THE ALBUMS
Soon Gigaton will be out, and it will be time to rank the albums again. I think it's fair to say that Lightning Bolt has mostly been in the bottom two for most posters. Hopefully Gigaton will be a bit above that.

Re: RANK THE ALBUMS
I am surprised that S/T was second bottom on this. Must have been new album love for LB.Thejambi wrote:I have compiled data from the "Rank the Albums" thread and compiled the official ranking of all the Pearl Jam albums. I included all rankings that didn't require anymore effort than a copy/paste into excel. Some people have more than one list included because I only cared so much. I'll update with several useless observations as time goes on.
Post Lightning Bolt rankings:
1. Vitalogy
2. Yield
3. No Code
4. Vs.
5. Ten
6. Binaural
7. Riot Act
8. Lightning Bolt
9. Pearl Jam
10.Backspacer

Re: RANK THE ALBUMS
Yeah, post the album journey and with Gigaton coming, my rankings before the album hits changed dramatically. I for many many years put No Code on top unquestionably, but it took a big fall on the consecutive listen. As of today:
Vitalogy
Binaural
Yield
No Code
Ten
Vs.
Pearl Jam
Riot Act
Backspacer
Lightning Bolt
I had Backspacer at the bottom for the longest time but I am now convinced that some energy, no longer how misplaced is better than regurgitation. That said, I still think Pendulum is their best song since Binaural outside of Of the Earth.

Re: RANK THE ALBUMS
I am going to start listening to all the albums in preparation, but based on the last time I gave this serious thought
1. Vitalogy
2. Ten
(these are not likely to ever change unless they swap with each other. Along with Automatic for the People my 3 favorite albums of all time)
3. Vs.
4. Backspacer
5. Lightning Bolt
6. S/T
7. Yield
(wouldn't surprise me to see 5/6/7 swap a bit)
8. Riot Act
9. No Code
10. Binaural
(likewise with these bottom 3)

I’m genuinely curious to see who else would have Lightning Bolt in their top 5.

Ten and Riot Act could potentially swap spaces as I’m pretty certain I’ve played RA more than Ten.

So sad to see my favourite at the bottom. Agree with you on a lot of stuff, but definitely not PJ album rankings.durdencommatyler wrote:No Code is probably my 2nd favorite PJ album until Habit. From that point on it's touch and go. Super uneven, to these ears. Couple that with the sort of muted underwater quality to the production and I have to rank it beneath Backspacer.VinylGuy wrote:Backspacer over no code? That`s unique.durdencommatyler wrote:Mmmm... Let's see...
1. Vitalogy (this is pretty cemented, for me)
2. Ten
3. Riot Act
4. Yield (this has gained a lot of ground over the past year; may move up even more)
5. Vs
6. Backspacer
7. No Code
8. Pearl Jam
9. Binaural
Some of those have actually changed a bit since the last time I ranked them. That's interesting to see.
But be glad, I used to have it ranked under S/T as well. Only recently did it move up to the 7th spot for me.

Now let me explain.
I love the songs on Vitalogy when played live. However I find myself skipping almost all the songs on the CD except for Tremor Christ.
And that's my explanation
