Han & Chewie's "we're home" moment was one of the best fucking moments of that movie!

It truly was.
I remember us all here all of us wondering where Harrison Ford was no mention of him in the casting or first trailer.
Then that reveal in that trailer. And it was perfect
‘Chewie..we’re home’ is THE fuck yeah moment of this trilogy.
Or maybe Luke showing up on Crait

What fan service did they do in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK?
The famous "I have a bad feeling about this" line comes to mind, and that's hardly a deal breaker.

While the "Chewie, we're home" scene was pretty great, it most definitely is a fan nod.
I'd almost like to see their intro more natural, not a "tada! Here's Han and Chewie!"
*shrug*

I have still only seen this once, but one thing that kinda bugged me was the lack of Anakin. According to GL, wasn't the whole saga about Anakin? Like I don't really like the PT or the portrayal of Anakin, but I thought they'd mention him a little more considering how the previous 6 movies are kind of revolved around him. He seemed like an afterthought the whole ST.

No. The whole saga is about Palpatine.darth_vedder wrote:I have still only seen this once, but one thing that kinda bugged me was the lack of Anakin. But Palpatine was the endpoint for Lucas had he made the sequel trilogy
Lucas had "enough material for three earlier films and three later films, to make a total of nine, and there were outlined materials certainly for a later three that culminated with this big clash with the Emperor in Episode IX."

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Having the main hero turn out to be Palpatines granddaughter and be the one that actually, truly be the one that brings balance to the Force is NOT what Lucas had in mind. By making these choices, the whole theme of it being the Skywalker saga shifts to all of it really being about the Palpatine bloodline. The Skywalkers are relegated to being nothing more than tools in the overarching story that has become Palpatine’s story.dimejinky99 wrote:But Palpatine was the endpoint for Lucas had he made the sequel trilogy

Palpatine could’ve still been the big bad without the decisions placed upon the Rey character thus retaining the Skywalker Saga status, but with how Rey ended up, it irrevocably changed the theme of it all.

By that exact logic it’s luke that brings balance to the force not Vader. He pays with his sacrifice. Ben does with his.
Rey didn’t restore any balance. She died too trying to defeat him. You’ll notice balance isn’t even mentioned in the film.
Who cares. It’s awful and treverows script was better apparently.

It really is. The Skywalkers just ended up being some failed experiment of the real hero.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Palpatine conquered the galaxy twice, destroyed nearly all of his enemies after turning their greatest hopes against them, lived for over a hundred years, and conquered death itself (and there's no reason he can't do it again). And he had a blast doing it. Ultimately he was only "killed" by his own superior progeny (who ended up taking the name of a bloodline he created), which isn't the worst way to go.
Star Wars is the story of a Chad emperor and how he won at life.
Wtf I love this movie now.
