This is gonna be a fun weekend of speculation, of backlash, of backlash to the backlash, etc...

Queue everything from “I just want Pearl Jam to be Pearl Jam” to “I love it unapologetically”. If this is it, and I have no idea if it is, this could be Pearl Jam’s Trans, which even if I don’t like it I will get behind because I think Lightning Bolt doesn’t suffer from laziness or bad writing - it suffers from banging out the same old tunes as stale. This would not be stale, and taking fans for a big uneasy ride that could be rewarding for everyone.

there was a point in my fandom that I basically liked anything Ed sang on when he was in his prime (weird covers, etc.). So, I'm all in on something bizarre as long as Ed still gets to sing.

Man, this weekend would be much better if it leeeeeeeeekss.

Nothing about that clip is inherently exciting to me, could go a million different ways. I'm not going to be impressed by new and different production / arrangement / instrumentation choices if the songwriting is Lightning Bolt-level.
