A lot of people think close counts in punning. It doesn't. It makes a really bad pun. You gotta be spot on, and not add any words (some exceptions). The not adding words is key for a good Pearl Jam pun.

when I first listened to it, i'll admit my first thought was, "ugh. I hope not." But since then I've gone back and listened to it a few more times and it's actually grown on me. I am very intrigued to see/hear where this goes. (if this is a sneak leak) I think I had to empty my thoughts of "what I expect Pearl Jam to sound like" in order to give it a clean, open minded chance. I definitely agree with all of you that are saying that PJ trying something new isn't a bad thing....

Has anyone tried getting Bill Simmons to admit it was new PJ?

The bass sounds a little bit like "Cannonball" by The Breeders

I love the vibe of this clip, but some precautionary thoughts:

1. Ed's vocal delivery could completely ruin this. Hopefully not though.

2. As someone else suggested, it could just be the intro, then the guitars and live drums come blasting in. I really hope not though.

3. The one thing it does share in common with BS and LB is a lack of ambience. Even that synth feels very sterile and icy. Which could work...but I'm really hoping they bring back some of the air and room vibes of Riot Act, or -- and this is less likely -- really slather on the delay and reverb and fully commit to a darker, spacier vibe.

If it truly does come out on Tuesday, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get teases like this before the weekend, like they did last week.

Simmons isn’t responding to the people asking if its new PJ.

Simmons doesn't have to respond. It's obvious it was Pearl jam. Let's stop the speculation and move on to deconstructing the clip.
