When you do laundry, you.. can't do anything else?

1. Ed's vocal delivery could completely ruin this. Hopefully not though.
2. As someone else suggested, it could just be the intro, then the guitars and live drums come blasting in. I really hope not though.
3. The one thing it does share in common with BS and LB is a lack of ambience. Even that synth feels very sterile and icy. Which could work...but I'm really hoping they bring back some of the air and room vibes of Riot Act, or -- and this is less likely -- really slather on the delay and reverb and fully commit to a darker, spacier vibe.
lack of ambience is the Achilles heel of the last 3 records.
When Who You Are first came out, I absolutely HATED it. It was different. It was experimental. It wasn't the Pearl Jam I fell in love with. Of course, I was in high school and young and stupid. Now, all I want from this band is different and experimental. If this is a clip from DotC, then I am excited just because it is a change. Of course, who knows what the rest sounds like. But it's nice to be excited about something different from them.

Pendulum, tho
That songs needs more air and room ambience. The percussion and box are so tight and constricted.
right - imagine how much better it could be
I agree that it's the best song they've had in many years - easily my fav from the last two records. I switch off to listening to live versions and then studio. Great tune.
Im excited to hear something new from them as well - but sometimes I think that people on this board only listen to Pearl Jam and so as long as something is different and occupies a different space it is lauded as amazing, whether or not it's a good song in the context of all music (see praise for Binaural and Riot Act as top tier Pearl Jam albums)
Interesting. Can’t associate it with anything else they’ve done so no idea what to expect. This is going to be fun. Could also be a train wreck but give em credit for going for something different at this stage of the game.
