Re: 2020 Tour (Rumors) (aka Gig A Ton) (aka Gigatour)
Many people that got tix at StL getting the denial email as well. Yikes. Seemingly, it’s the people who got a denial for GA but still got seats.
That show was at 99 percent at closing time, and many people with second choice and lower shut out. So, the stats were either not accurate, or they only factored in first choice.
This ‘best available’ option seems to have caused more confusion than helped.
Wild that PJ paid a premium to use Ticketmaster for this, and it’s looking like it’s a worse fan experience.

Um, PJ did not pay a premium. We paid via the $25 service fees.mkay0 wrote:Many people that got tix at StL getting the denial email as well. Yikes. Seemingly, it’s the people who got a denial for GA but still got seats.

Hard to say. Ticket prices were the same as they were in 2018, and they seemingly kept the lotto in-house.given2trade wrote:Um, PJ did not pay a premium. I’m wondering if #3 wasn’t correct.CopperTom wrote:I’m leaning a bit towards 1 & 2. Results are close to expected with a few outliers. Honestly, I will lose my shit if I lose an entry that showed 99%. I can take losing, but I won’t be able to accept that.Bi_3 wrote:That would be tough. or maybe they just didn’t properly test / UAT the allocation algorithm before it went live
1.) Nothing is wrong and it's behaving as expected but people are complaining anyway
2.) The BA picks didnt change the post odds, but otherwise the draws are working as expected
3.) BA is getting treated as one pick for GA and one pick for RES, so if you had BA and they we out of GA you have to wait until all the other picks at that priority are over before getting RES
Did anyone pick RES for MSG in their pri-1 option and lose?

Somebody on the Pit literally wrote "I read someone who joined weeks ago got tickets...that’s the ultimate FU"
I can't believe how elitist some of the people are on that forum. So new fans shouldn't be allowed to go to shows because you need to see them for the thirtieth time? That's insane!
I get being disappointed if you don't get tickets, but wanting the lotto to push out new fans and only give tickets to the people who have been there forever?

(Personally if it was up to me the seats would be randomized and seniority would get you nothing and/or people who got good seats in one show would make room for others to get good seats in another show, but it makes sense I feel that way as a newer fan who only joined the fan club in 2013)

For a while they stopped doing GA and randomized rows 1, 2, 9, and 10 giving all fan club members a chance at great seats.
Now with GA back, all members have equal chance at the “best” ticket.

As many flaws as this system has had, I think it does a fine job of balancing access with seniority. Everyone gets a shot at tickets, seniority gets you better seats. I think that’s extremely fair.

I agree. I do think the internal PearlJam.com system was better than this TM system though. There was definitely an issue with the odds this time. People lost St. Louis RES / BA with their #2 pick, however, the odds showed 99%. Either the odds didn't include BA selections or the odds were for your 1st priority selection only.mkay0 wrote:As many flaws as this system has had, I think it does a fine job of balancing access with seniority. Completely agree, this is the best system I've seen thus far. Although it still stings a bit that I was rejected despite being part of the 10C for close to 15 yrs. So it goes I guessmkay0 wrote:As many flaws as this system has had, I think it does a fine job of balancing access with seniority. Everyone gets a shot at tickets, seniority gets you better seats. Im not sure how other bands are with fan club tickets, but with the known demand for pearl jam fan club tickets, it would be nice if they could have a detailed description of how its being run, how odds work and things like that. Hopefully if there is a 2nd leg they will provide that info.CopperTom wrote:I agree. I do think the internal PearlJam.com system was better than this TM system though. There is no way around some fans getting pissed off, but most will be able to accept missing out on tickets if they know why

If i manage to be selected for the verified fan presale, are those tickets able to be transferred after purchase? Im wanting to buy them for a friend who missed out on fan club tickets and didn't sign up for verified fan themselves.

Strongly agreed on this. The odds were a shit show this year. It’s honestly a huge error that the odds showed 99 percent on some shows and didn’t even make it through second choice.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:Im not sure how other bands are with fan club tickets, but with the known demand for pearl jam fan club tickets, it would be nice if they could have a detailed description of how its being run, how odds work and things like that. If I got a confirmation that I got the 15th in LA, but have received nothing for the 16th, should I assume I didn’t get the 16th? Selects ga and seats for both.

100% agree (pun intended)mkay0 wrote:

someone totally shit the bed with these odds either: 1) not clarifying that they related to Priority 1 choices only or 2) failed to consider a dynamic variable whereby as a result of earlier requests being unfilled it compressed the odds of other outstanding requests being filled once this kicked off
leaning towards #2 because i have been pretty shocked that the number of people i have encountered now that failed to get their priority 1 BAL RES or priority 1 MSG RES get filled; which were both over 50% probability at the time it closed
maybe a spurious relationship but then when you think about Chris’ priority 2 OAK story it really all seems to add up to them missing an important variable here on those published odds
