I got a very strong visceral nostalgic reaction to the beginning of that. My eyes widened and I got really excited. Then the bass and the high-hat comes in and I just thought, "oh right, couple of weird noises to start and then rock out, right. That's what Pearl Jam does."

Don't get me wrong, I'm beyond excited for this. I can't wait. But I also liked LB a lot more than most of you and I kinda feel like maybe this isn't going to be the giant change in direction or artist shift people are hoping for. And everyone will be super let down.

Still, I'm pumped and I loved that clip.

i am onboard with all this now and interested to see where the live show takes it

the chaotic / dissonant intro could be a cool opportunity for improvisation - something like a ‘Free Jazz’ that slams into Whipping. Although DOTC seems to groove in more gradually, which is also cool
