No. The first movie is the most Star Wars. It is PURE Star Wars.

Adjusted for inflation, Phantom Menace made like $200 million more than Rogue. Does not compute.
Star Wars (1977) is the fourth highest grossing movie of all time adjusted for inflation.

However, I only look at the amounts in $. Not adjusted for inflation.

Just what’s happened before. Listening to my favourite SW pod today and they were going over numbers (no guide at all IMO) and reaction to the previous trilogies and how it’s all matching up to exactly what’s happened in the previous two trilogies in terms of box office and reaction both critically and among fans.
(Apparently some critics said AOTC was better than empire???) but same with reactions to empire and ROTJ which apparently is the lowest earner of the entire saga?
This last one is just such a lot. I mean it’s packed. I think we’ll be far more forgiving of it in time is all. I was winded and bewildered by it too bit I’m far more forgiving than ost here maybe.
Took me ages to get into rogue one and everyone else here claiming it’s genius right off.
Just feel it’ll come round when we have it at home and can watch em all

Shouldn’t you compare worldwide numbers, not just domestic?

Find me three legitimate critics that said AotC was better than Empire.

Harder to find, but online inflation calculators tell me Jedi’s world wide gross adjusts to $1.475 billion, which would best Revenge of the Sith ($1.1), Last Jedi, and so far Rise of Skywalker. The original trilogy also did not show in some markets, like China, though the new movies do seem to tank there.

Quotes from contemporary AoC positive reviews are some of my favorite things ever.
I feel ambivalent about it and I'm still going to pay to see it again.
Yes, it's better than The Phantom Menace. Think for a minute about how little that means.
My God, how wonderful it would be if it just even pretended to not be so commercialized.
Ewan McGregor neither sings, dances nor takes off his clothes in Star Wars: Episode 2.
Spoiler: show

less Jar Jar, no discussion of taxes and trade blockades, and more Jedis, violence, and sex appeal
Stunning Visuals Overcome Stunted Emotion
Ewan McGregor simply oozes wisdom and integrity as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

It plays like an infomercial plugging the newest in digital filmmaking.
It's dark

I can’t think of a single thing to say in defense of that movie.

Attack Of The Clones

«Nothing in the first four movies quite matches the continuous visual bravura of this one, which is almost as much a digital age marvel as the '77 "Star Wars" was of an earlier era of miniatures and models.

For most of its 2 1/2-hour span, the movie keeps topping itself, not dramatically, but with one pure, explosively delivered, ripely detailed action set-piece after another.» Chicago Tribune

«A technological landmark that couldn’t look or sound better.» NY Post

«As for the breathless 45-minute climax, no screen fantasy adventure in memory can match the showmanship.» USA Today

«An exhilarating two hours of serious fun.» Time

« George Lucas has reached deep into the trove of his self-generated mythological world to produce a grand entertainment that offers a satisfying balance among the series' epic, narrative, technological and emotional qualities.» Variety

I think a lot of that is pretty fair, honestly. There are some really cool set pieces in AOTC, and the CG scale of the final battle is pretty amazing (even if it did kick off the snap zoom craze that I loathe with every fiber of my being).

What’s a snap zoom LV?

Like can you tell me of such a shot in AOTC ?

Never heard that term before
