It also could be that I now have a special lady friend that likes PJ and that's creating a hype train. Either way LB largely passed me by. I've probably listened to it fewer than 10 times. Although when I revisited it recently it seemed okay. I must have had low expectations from reading RM. Thanks RM for making LB a pleasant surprise.

You’re at the perfect place.

Now. Stop. Don’t let rm embitter you.

Cos it will if it can.

Except the Star Wars forum.

That’s all rainbows and sunshine.
The ST wasn't that great overall, dime.

See?? SEE???

The album will be what it will be. But one thing I am enjoying so far is at each little turn I am surprised.

First, I heard the title Gigaton and saw the cover art and though ‘well that was unexpected!’

Second I heard the title of the first single. Dance of the Clairvoyants. ‘Well that was unexpected!’

Third I heard the minor snippet of the song. ‘Well that was unexpected!’

Then the track list. Have to say. Most of the titles came across about as unexpected as that sort of thing can get!

Given the length of time I’ve been following the band, a series of unexpected is welcome and ... well... unexpected.

Starting off well.

So, maybe, this album could be unexpectedly good? Well, fuck.

Believe me, my expectations are well and truly reeled in. Boy oh boy do I hope that I am pleasantly surprised.

But I can't shake the feeling that plat's version of Dance of the Clairvoyants will be the one I return to in future... My God I hope I am wrong.

I agree that several contextual things about the new record have been surprising (and for once not unpleasantly so) but I still have zero expectations about the new material itself.

i've said this a few times but there is a legit chance for swing-and-a-miss territory on DOTC.

I'm getting a real Westley Willis vibe on this track

Not specifically, more just broad cues from 1980s pop music in general.

yeah i'm getting faint echoes of the cure with that bassline the more i hear it. if it approaches anything like that i'll be over the moon.
