I don’t think it is. LB sucked. It wasn’t the first pj album that was disappointing, but it was the first that felt pointless and lazy. I’d be shocked if after 7 years, they made another uninteresting album. I don’t think this will match their early output, but I do think it will be their best album since Binaural.
lv is not interested in discussing this matter.
you dont know what im interested in discussing!!!!!!!
I've missed you. I'm so happy you are back
you didn't say this to me when i returned

Ten remix doesn’t count. Nothing other than Garden is worth listening to. Good comment though. :)

I am as relieved as the next person that BOB is not producing but I am listening to the most recent Mastodon album and he produced that. It sounds great, lovely colourful sound with a bite to it.
Maybe it is a case like Bob Rock where they become too close to the band and do not question each other's decision requests?

Whenever I get to that mid-point of Lightning Bolt where the album turns to slop, I always think 'This guy produced 'Go'....WTF'

That's crazy. He wasn't involved in Ten, Riot Act and S/T. But he remixed both S/T and Ten.

And we don't know yet if he isn't involved at all for Gigaton. Probably not, but maybe he did mix some of the tracks...

I think it's unlikely but not impossible..

I think its because PJ need to be perceived as a garage band, but at the same time "the great american stadium rockers". This resulted in lazy garage music/forced stadium rock, polished in relativity modern BO'B way, to keep up with their PRAMG mission and to imitate the live show energy (which failed)

The band always worked best with textures and ambience in the studio creating unique songs, which they were forced to translate live.

The band/label may have wanted the songs to resonate with single dads and/or sports fans betting on the underdog, rather than introspective music for stoners and music geeks... but im stoned right now.. so this could be garbage talk.

Blaming only BO'B for Lightning Bolt is unfair. That's like saying he's also fully responsable for the greatness of Vs or Vitalogy...
The band wrote great songs for Vitalogy and BO'B excelled as a producer, that's like 1+1=3

Writing not enough good songs and a average production on Lightning Bolt is like 1+1= 0.5
