Yeah, it's as if nobody learned that PJ are who they are at this point. Lower your expectations, people. That way, if it's good you will be more pleased, and if it's bad you haven't lost anything. Although, I suspect many hardcore fans will lie to themselves and immediately love it more than anything in the whole wide world for a long time until the truth of its actual poor quality slowly becomes more and more apparent. Very similar to new SW crazies.
You should meditate more and be less grouchy
Haha I'm in a fine mood. My eyes are open.
You're a joy theif
You're stealing your own soul by lying to yourself.
Maybe concern yourself less with what others feel and more about yourself. Try it.
I love people too much. Your pain is my pain. I fix you, I feel better. :peace:

I still can't help thinking that if this album is Pearl Jam does New Wave, every Pearl Jam fan will like it because it doesn't sound like Pearl Jam, and non-Pearl Jam fans will hear it and laugh because they have the ability to just listen to the Talking Heads if they want to.

I just hope with this one they've taken a breath, and made Gigatron as organic as it can be, and not a 'we're baaaaaack' type album, which the last couple have been.

Avocado also was, but it was preceded by Riot Act, so it was sort of justified for being as bombastic a response.

this is easily the most trenchant thing you've said on here.

I bet this will be a very divisive album - much like No Code - in the sense that it will be a very different sounding Pearl Jam album.

DOTC will be Who You Are of the album... As a first single, it will confuse mainstream radio, and repel all "the bros".

Who knows if it'll be as good as No Code...but in the end it doesn't really matter.

They're a Hall of Fame band on their 11th album...they're rich as shit, and can sell out any arena in the world on any given night.

Good on them if they still have the drive to throw us a curve ball every now an then.

I remember Vedder saying around the time of Backspacer that they never used to listen to Brendan O'Brien's suggestions. It was only after O'Brien produced some of the Springsteen records in the 00s that they took his advice in the studio.

I'd say those Springsteen records are held in high regard by the fanbase but there's a lot of grumbling about how they sound, particularly Magic.

So basically Springsteen is to blame for Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.

Possibly - though the video of the Gigaton test pressing sounded like the ambient intro segues into something punchier. It's just a tiny tiny beat that you hear, but it sounds like it's going to be something beefier than sometimes.

Hmm OK my bad - I listened to it again and actually it's either a count in on the cymbals, or you could well be right, and it'll be a gentler piece, with a swing of shuffle time signature.

Or Who Ever Said could literally be a 20 second ambient intro
