Ah figured it out. And maybe this is where the "new wave" stuff came from. But the kick drum sound is almost identical to the kick from The Pixies' "Dig for Fire".

They hit a little funk riff (a classic prince if you will) at the end of it, but up until the last bit it sounds rather....angular and dark? I also like the tone and rhythm.

Also, that being said, its just a small clip and i said MOST INTERESTING in over a decade. The last 2.5 pearl jam albums have been filled with very uninteresting guitar parts.

For latter era pearl jam, anything more than a D or alternatively a G powerchord is a big step up.

I like that the guitar sounds like it's been given some space - like it was recorded in a real room.
