I've never met anyone ever who liked Prince enough to list him as a favorite. Someone out there must love him though. Purple Rain is cool and he's had a bunch of great singles but his output is massive relative to the number of really great songs he's recorded. The Hits 1 and 2 are good too but would have been much better as 15 or 16 songs.

I started loving Prince when some dumbass Christian organization came to our door when I was 11 and told us he made "The Devil's music."

He wasn't one in the 80s, not that it would have matter to these people.

Huge Prince fan. Purple Rain is of course fantastic, but there's plenty of other solid albums as well. I listen to the Love Symbol album pretty regularly. Great one-two punch to kick off that one.

he is one of the great guitar players of his time indeed...his take on While My guitar Gentle Weeps from some RARHF is still a classic.
I like him more when he does classic funk records, where should i go?

no. i'm so fucking middle aged with two little kids that i didn't even know about the shows until the review of the first night was in the pioneer press. apparently the first night he didn't sing a note. just played guitar. awesomely, of course. i think the next night he didn't pick up the guitar. he's too goddam cool.

This is a hilarious story, and I think all Prince fans can appreciate how awesomely weird he is:

That was awesome...yeah, he is fucking weird and working with him must be a nightmare, even if he as talented as he is...
Kevin Smith is such a good storyteller, i just wish he had that talent when it comes to making movies.
