What lies in wait

Ed made the odd comment equating the LB songs to a "flophouse" and kicking them out so the new tenants (songs) can move in. He's made comments like this before...and, yet its 4 years before the new "tenants" move in.

I bet soundgarden and eddies injury added at least 18 months to the weight

Not really. He's always writing. Just takes a long time for his not as talented band mates to grasp his vision for the next one and learn the songs he's written.

That's the real deal

To be fair, I'm still trying to grasp his vision for the last two records. And my ambivalence about the music contained therein has prevented me from learning any of the songs. So I can see where they're coming from.

I just had a bowl of sauce with this post.

I liked where this thread is going. It's a logical extension of the Lightning Bolt thread, just with Harmless post rate under 12/hour.

My wishlist for album #11:

1) PJ fires BoB.
2) PJ hires Rick Rubin as their next producer.
3) Rubin rents a haunted mansion for a month (ala Blood Sugar Sex Magik!!!).
4) He tells PJ strictly NOT to bring any finished songs to the month-long session.
5) In fact, the whole session will be one long jam session with the record button turned "on". Stone is given orders to begin every jam with one of his many stored-up tasty riffs. Rubin is still undecided as to whether he'll need to rent a shrink for Stone prior to beginning the session, to help get rid of his "nobody wants to listen to my ideas" complex.
6) Rubin buys Ed and his family an all-inclusive vacation to some famous Hawiian resort surf Mecca for the first 3 weeks of the session.
7) When Ed returns, much to his surprise, he finds out the house is actually haunted by the ghost of his real father.
8) Naturally, Ed's unresolved daddy issues resurface.
9) Ed goes surfing (again!) and writes some of his darkest, most challenging lyrics to date.
10) The album is released 2 years after LB and it's titled Ghost. It ends up being the longest and most polarizing album in PJ's catalog. (Think No Codeon steroids?)
11) There are no love songs on Ghost.
12) The album sets a record in the PJ catalog for maximum Stone riffage.
13) After the sessions, Mike requires hand replacement surgery because he scorches his fingertips off.
14) Every single is accompanied with a real life "b-side"! Seriously!
15) I die a happy man.
