DOTC will be Who You Are of the album... As a first single, it will confuse mainstream radio, and repel all "the bros".

Who knows if it'll be as good as No Code...but in the end it doesn't really matter.

They're a Hall of Fame band on their 11th album...they're rich as shit, and can sell out any arena in the world on any given night.

Good on them if they still have the drive to throw us a curve ball every now an then.
This. This right here. So many people forget that after that album came out PJ basically lost half their fan base as a direct result. They don't really get the credit they deserve for that ballsy move.

I never hated No Code but it definitely took it's time to really grow on me. As great as the album is what's even more important is what it gave rise to: Yield-Binaural-Riot Act i.e. the best creative stretch in the bands history. That's what I'm hoping happens here. My only worry is that the album relies too heavily on the drum machine/processed/synth stuff. No Code wasn't 13 tracks of "Who You Ares" it had detours for sure but also it's share of loud garage rockers more akin the bands traditional sound.
Pearl Jam went from ten to no code in just six years.

Think you’ll find that was their biggest and best creative step.

Yield is great but it’s just ‘return to form’ ie pj trying to sound like Pj. And it works there.
It didn’t work on later attempts.

Ok I really like it

It’s brave. They’ve truly stepped out of their comfort zone. Nothing about this is lazy at all.

It’s a real grower too. Better n better each spin

Are the other songs you've heard in this vein, Dime - in terms of an aesthetic?
