It's been 7 years since the last PJ album and I know you all have huge throbbing glistening vascular hard-ons for new music.
But when the hyped has died down and the dust has died down, can we not all agree that this song is fucking ass?
- Crappy keyboard synths which have no business been anywhere near a rock band like PJ
- Vedder sounds bad - admit it, he hasn't sang well since 06
- Tinny drums
- Batshit stupid lyrics about throbbing vascular dicks
- Too long and repetitive
- Brickwalled to shit ("bUt tHeReS a NeW pRoDuCeR duuuuuur")
- The worst title in PJ memory
Dance of the Clairvoyants

I think he might actually use all 3: fire, file, and finer
The last one definitely sounded like finer.

I like Leper Messiah by Metallica. But if The Dixie Chicks performed it I probably wouldn't like it.
Now a new band came along. Pearl Jam. Guys in their 50s. Their first single was posted in Other Bands. Would you like it the same?

Definitely this. I can actually sorta picture a younger Ed all pissed off while singing this song.McParadigm wrote:After a few listens today, it does seem like it benefits from Ed having something he feels the need to see overcome. For all the experimentation, that’s the actual “return to form” feeling here. The balance of anger/despair and raw determination is the most Pearl Jam element of this song, and something that hasn’t felt...present? Authentic? Or just like an honest creative guide? For a while.

Re: Dance of the Clairvoyants
here's a reality check regarding the different production styles: listen to DOTC immediately followed by Can't Deny Me. It's like night and day. I knew it was bad, but I can't believe how overly produced the latter (and frankly everything in the past 15 years) is.

I feel oddly vindicated. Someone, somewhere, who isn't me, loves Lightning Bolt and Backspacerliebzz wrote:So according to that poll on top RM is not divided on this song and everyone feels pretty positive for the most part...
On the other hand, I can’t go on Facebook today with all the whining and carrying on about how terrible the song is. I guess this truly is a vacuum outside the prototypical fan base.

Re: Dance of the Clairvoyants
that's impossible to answer. Certainly not as much. I have a relationship with the band and especially with Eddie's voice that means everything is judged on a different scale.mikejasond wrote:Here’s a question

But maybe. Mark lanegan has been producing a lot of music in this wheelhouse, and his voice carried me into songs I would have otherwise not considered.
