57 minutes is great. The single is pretty long in comparison with some of their past choices.

No Brendan O'Brien, so probably means no fade outs in the middle Mike's solos

you have to factor in that at least 5 minutes of that run time is greta thunberg's UN speech

Wow didn’t even think about Backspacer being only 36:38 before, and with a few of the weakest ever Pearl Jam songs.

Fuck yes! I started listening to PJ around '06. I kinda feel like the Pearl Jam I learned about, but never really experienced, is back.

It's the #3 paid album on Amazon right now which is kinda crazy for this band...apparently the single worked. Here's hoping it leaks soon, I ain't got the patience to wait until the end of March.

back? this band never existed. matt tracing over his drum machine created beat, stone with a simpleton bass line, jeff on synth (?!?!) and mike with two simple repeated riffs. there's been nothing like this before. even You Are felt like rock music even if stone's guitar used a couple of weird drum/vibe effects.Leatherhead wrote:Fuck yes! i think most people's criticism of the last few albums is they feel the band were actually trying to find something that they were in the early 90s (i don't really agree). but yea, this band? quite a new vibe.

Putting the tea leaves together, maybe we're getting a few more singles before the album drops. The DOTC clip has the first of these logos at the bottom of it, but not the other two. One of the people who leaked this title said Superblood Wolfmoon is the next one in mid-February.

Speaking more to the authenticity of this song rather than how it sounds. And this sounds a lot more like Binaural and Riot Act (two of my faves) than it does Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.MikeyIsGod wrote:back? this band never existed. matt tracing over his drum machine created beat, stone with a simpleton bass line, jeff on synth (?!?!) and mike with two simple repeated riffs. there's been nothing like this before. even You Are felt like rock music even if stone's guitar used a couple of weird drum/vibe effects.Leatherhead wrote:Fuck yes! That makes sense to me. It also aligns with the pre-release rollout that most bands do now.scrub12 wrote:Putting the tea leaves together, maybe we're getting a few more singles before the album drops. Re: The Official GIGATON Thread (real tracklists released!)
Stone interviewed by Zane Lowe today:
Some variety on the new album #gigaton says Stone, some really straight ahead rock songs and some spare and simple ballads. DOTC is ‘on the outer edge of something we’ve not tried before’. The album is ‘really us’.
So, it sounds like a Pearl Jam album with DotC as the outlier fwiw.

that's not surprising - but straight ahead rock songs, spare and simple ballads, etc are their best songs and their weakest songs. If the comfort and energy and authenticity and playfulness and trust in DotC is present in the sessions we're in good shape. Hopefully it is.

Probably Apple Music which I don't have. I just saw some dude transcribing it on Twitter. He seemed semi-legit so I posted it.scrub12 wrote:Any way to listen to this?Homeboyd wrote:Stone interviewed by Zane Lowe today:

Another quote from Stone, "I do think (Eddie’s) lyrics on this record are stunning". I assume he means stunning in a good way
