I do imagine DotC as the NAIS of Gigaton. At first we may be disappointed that the album is so different from the single, but then we’ll see all the qualities (like with Binaural).Homeboyd wrote:Probably Apple Music which I don't have. Some variety on the new album #gigaton says Stone, some really straight ahead rock songs and some spare and simple ballads. DOTC is ‘on the outer edge of something we’ve not tried before’. The album is ‘really us’.
So, it sounds like a Pearl Jam album with DotC as the outlier fwiw.
Another quote from Stone, "I do think (Eddie’s) lyrics on this record are stunning". I assume he means stunning in a good way

I hope the album is heavy. Or there's some heaviness to it. It'd be a waste of a title to name it Gigaton and have it be just heartfelt ballads and spritzy punkers.

Just looking at the Apple music app, it’ll probably be archived tomorrow if not tonight.

outside of black, i can't think of any other true ballads that they've done that have been really good. it's definitely not their strong suit.

No way we're getting just heartfelt ballads and spritzy punkers for the other 53 minutes.

Where can we listen to that interview? Zane has a show on Beats 1 but this didn’t come up when I searched it.Homeboyd wrote:Stone interviewed by Zane Lowe today:

So, it sounds like a Pearl Jam album with DotC as the outlier fwiw.

I have faith it won’t be another LB. Jeff talking about how proud he is of the songs, plus, the sheer length of time left on the album means these songs have to be fleshed out a bit.
This radio show replays in an hour and then in the middle of the night. It’ll be on demand after.

Feels significant that Stone is out and about hyping the album before it's release, as though that's a notable change from his level of investment in the band on the last few albums.

There’s 53 minutes left for 11 songs. The recording of River Cross I have is like 3:15 too, so hoping the odds of these quick punk songs is pretty low.

exactly. Mike was all amped about Lightning Bolt, so if he were the one out here being the hype man, i'd be way more worriedBirds in Hell wrote:Feels significant that Stone is out and about hyping the album before it's release, as though that's a notable change from his level of investment in the band on the last few albums.
