Are you going to address his rebuttals though?cutuphalfdead wrote:He goes to S&M parties though, so that's cool.

I don't know what good that will do. I'm not going to send him higher bitrate copies of all his audience recording. And he didn't even address my complaint about throwing away the source information (many of which contain a note from the taper saying please don't circulate mp3 copies of my recordings)theplatypus wrote:Are you going to address his rebuttals though?cutuphalfdead wrote:He goes to S&M parties though, so that's cool.

Re: Demos
Whatever, we just see things fundamentally different. This is the best he can do, and for many people having this collection is great. My complaint is it's become "the" source for this type of stuff and it's just poorly done from the standards that I would have for something like this. At the very least I want source info for the recordings. There are so many different recordings it's good to know which one you got so you can compare it when you stumble upon another one. And when you're converting to a lossy format, which I don't think should be done in the first place, especially with live audience recordings, it's a good idea to be upfront with the lineage.
When people used to trade for these things the old fashioned way, it was always made clear among traders that if you convert to mp3 it's for your own personal collection, and not for circulation. Just because the technology changed doesn't mean that becomes less important.
The dot net has grown into a pretty extensive archive for live Pearl Jam and the like. It's my opinion that in the long run, you're doing the community a disservice by being an archive containing 160kbs mp3s with no source or lineage information. It's not hard to do, but it's hard to fix.

Re: Demos
There's a reason why you get banned from a private torrent site for uploading crap. Enough people circulate the crap and the good shit gets harder to find.
Fortunately there's enough people out there that do care about keeping things as good as they can be that you can still find things done the right way.

Oh wait.
Seriously dude, you should be the source for this stuff. You clearly care enough about it and have the knowledge. Go for it, by all means. I'm super cereal.

LOL at "back in the old days trading.....convert to mp3"
Thats cute, chud!! Im cereal too!
I respect chuds viewpoint on this, absolutely. I just dont think anyone who gives a shit about this stuff and in trading circles, goes to this website to get the goods. i think its pretty obvious who this website targets and its fucking perfect for that.
