Does Eddie Vedder actually know what an analogy is?

Post by mikejasond »

"North is to south what the clock is to time"
"Confusion is to commotion what love is to our devotion"

Are we sure Eddie understands the concept of an analogy? Did he fail his SATs?

Do these actually mean anything at all?

That's a simile, not an analogy.

Source: I have a PhD in English and that's all it's good for.

ST is right. That’s, like, for sure a simile.

also this works as an analogy, although not an obvious one. the relationship is about how the first word in the pair informs the nature of the second

except that doesn’t work with clocks and time. in fact, it would be the other way around.
