That's a simile, not an analogy.

Source: I have a PhD in English and that's all it's good for.
ST is right. That’s, like, for sure a simile.
A simile like “imperceptibly big, big as the ocean” though the ocean is not imperceptibly big so another dud *shakes head*

But it's not saying it's imperceptible like the ocean.

There are two statements:

It is imperceptably big
and
It is big as the ocean

I took it more like imperceptibly big: big as the ocean.

But the ocean is not imperceptibly big. It’s very perceptible it’s not like the universe or something. But this is secondary to the point of the thread which is that Eddie shoves four random words together and tries to make it an analogy

I'll get on Ed's ass for clunky songwriting any day but so far the only real example of a bad or confusing analogy I've seen here is the one about confusion and commotion. The others make sense to me.

What does the north south one mean?

While they are related and intertwined, north and south are opposites. He’s comparing the relationship of a clock and time to two things that are opposite. As in, the clock doesn’t have much to do with time.
The East/west/everywhere life builds to the point that life, rather than the measurement or quantification of it, is what’s important.
And also, time doesn’t exist.

This is petty shit to complain about. An analogy doesn't need to be perfect to work in a song, or even a poem. Lyrics aren't published scholarly articles. If they evoke, emote, and get the message across, then they've done their job.

Eddie dropped out before they got to analogies.
