I don't remember The Fixer being that big of a deal.
Just Breathe of course had moderate success though. I got several compliments from friends on that along with "I thought they broke up?"

I believe Just Breathe is their biggest selling song in the States. Bigger than Last Kiss or Jeremy.

It probably could have been an even bigger hit if they gave it a proper video and did more promo for it.

Wasn't it on some sappy, teen melodrama on the CW? I recall a ton of attention around the song, at the time.

What I love best about this song is how many elements within it that are very exciting and appealing.

Whether that is how mikes guitar comes in and stabs away, the differing melodies and phrasings, the drums sliding in and out, the synth, and all of the interesting vocal layering of the outro.

Ill get sad come the second verse because i super enjoy ed's delivery and then ill remember i still ge to to listen to the outro. The way the guitars slide back into the song during the guitar break is also quite sexy and leaves me something to look forward to.

This is good song writing and its hilarious the same band wrote cant deny me

‘Well, son. Introducing “Gigaton,” its first studio album since 2013, Pearl Jam has come up with what might have happened if Talking Heads had invented grunge when they made “Speaking in Tongues.” The beat is funky, jabbed by jumpy rhythm guitar, and Eddie Vedder’s vocal lines hop all over the place, leaping an octave or arguing with themselves in staccato bursts or turning to sustained melody: “Expecting perfection leaves a lot to ignore/When the past is the present and the future’s no more.” Even if its references are obvious, Pearl Jam is clearly pushing itself.

I'm probably reading into this wrong. But a lot of these lyrics, to me, seem to be about the band not being happy with the way things have been going and so just kinda letting Ed do most of the work, and he was drowning because of it and were tearing him down by laying the blame on the leader of the band. Rather than voicing their concerns and grievances with the band, they just stayed quiet about it and basically gave up. Maybe it wasn't just Ed that's been the problem, but rather communication between them all.
