I listened to it a few times on Wednesday, put it down, then listened for a few times today. I like it more today than Wednesday and I liked it WednesdayChris_H_2 wrote:it's only been 3 days!numbers wrote:I still love this fucking song.

Re: Dance of the Clairvoyants
Yep I’m still digging on this
It has a depth and density that has been absent for most of the last decade.
It’s the sound of a collaborative vision, it’ sounds organic and laboured over which is a feat in itself.
It’s a band firing on all cylinders and devoid of pretence.
Damn I hope the album stacks up. Pearl jam are so much better when they let their music breath, there is not a wasted note or any element added for the sake of it. To me, all of them serve the song rather than the song serving them.

Thoughts on DOTC lyrics?
Most people including myself like the song but any thoughts on the lyrics? Maybe there's no specific overall meaning. If lyrics can be considered genious based on multiple people with multiple worldviews being able to genuinely interpret the lyrics according to their's, this song, like many other ed songs, falls into that category?
I pledge to be 100% boring and never troll-out again. I will make my interactions here pleasant, like sitting through an agricultural economics class.

Hi, welcome to RM. here we like to keep our rooms nice and tidy and avoid cluttered dirty whites all over the floor. You will notice that it is a far more enjoyable way to internetting than those goons over at pj.com
Might i suggest this thread to discuss this song?

my initial instinct was that it’s an allegory for the story of Jesus, meant to encourage more participation in the catholic church

i thought "stand back when the spirit comes" was more a thought piece on celebrities jerking off in front of those beneath them.96583UP wrote:my initial instinct was that it’s an allegory for the story of Jesus, meant to encourage more participation in the catholic church

It’s a song about not trying to control things that are natural.

Is there any possibility the lyric is: “the numbers keep falling off; the calendar’s flaw”, i.e. time continues passing, no matter what we might prefer.
Probably not, it was just a momentary thought.

Usually with PJ if it’s just new car smell that’s making me like the song that wears off after the first few listens.Chris_H_2 wrote:it's only been 3 days!numbers wrote:I still love this fucking song.

oof - but why would he be supportive of Harvey Weinstein? I realize Ed is now plugged in to the hollywood celeb network but that just doesn't seem like something he would doStrat wrote:i thought "stand back when the spirit comes" was more a thought piece on celebrities jerking off in front of those beneath them.96583UP wrote:my initial instinct was that it’s an allegory for the story of Jesus, meant to encourage more participation in the catholic church
I saw this more as a validation of all that buzz we were hearing before the album was rodleased about this being a Christian Rock-themed album
