The mayor is entitled to a salary of $258,750 a year. Michael Bloomberg, mayor of the city from 2002 to 2013 and one of the richest people in the world, declined the salary and instead was paid $1 yearly.

Who fucking cares? If you worked a job that paid you $5 a year and you declined the salary would I need to give you same big pat on the back? Because that's the equivalent here.

if it's a public service job for 11 years i think it's a sign he's a decent person

Seriously. I guess 3 term mayor doesn't count, nor does congressional representative or senator. Cuz ya know, those jobs aren't important at all. They don't give you any executive experience and certainly don't test leadership skills.

I don't know which jobs bring better experience for higher office than Governor (which is probably best), mayor & senator, other than already being in a higher office (like Cabinet member). Businessmen know how to run businesses. That is not how government is run, and I don't understand why anyone thinks that's the right experience. Unless you want someone who knows how to make $$ off the office itself, like the current President.

No one denies the existence of the globalized economy. The US helped create it, and it's job is to manage it. The US government is not a business.
