The album is incredible. There are clear standout tracks that will rank amongst the best in PJs catalogue. DOTC is one of them. Keeps getting better and better. Also. The production is going to unfold more and more with each listen. As it has been doing with DOTC. I’m a huge fan of the band’s studio work and I had high expectations for this album. Some tracks surpassed those expectations.

Yeah but which tracks, if any, are better than Better Days?

I’m sorry but anyone who thinks every PJ album is worthy of 5 stars should not be trusted in any capacity

Sirens is in my top 10. But for me. Lightning bolt ends after pendulum. The hidden track is the bridge of yellow moon. And it is fantastic.

Speculation here: the band was ready with the album when they released CDM.

CDM performed badly. "Shit, back to the drawing board" , said PJ.

The band spent 18 months making DotC.

"Fuck, that was hard", remarked PJ.

The band then decide to simply replace CDM with DotC and leave the remainder of the album as is.

Lightning Bolt 2.0 on it's way.

RM dies a little more inside.

PJ continues PRAMG.

Carry on gigaton. Let’s see what you’ve got.
And I’d maybe think low light was a ballad.

I don't get your guys' LB references. What do you mean by the LB aesthetic or sound or song choices? I mean, there's Getaway, Pendulum, Infallible, MYM, Yellow Moon ... all extremely different types of songs. I get that there are BoB production flourishes (I'm not a technical listener so I don't know what the fuck you guys are talking about half the time) some of you do not like from him, but in terms of songwriting and such .... there is no "Lightning Bolt" sound. This sounds like it's going to be another varied album w/ stuff for different types of fans ... but somehow people will pidgeonhole it into a thing. Backspacer I get ... there's a specific thing about it w/ punchy and condensed ... LB or Avocado for that matter, I don't really understand the pidgeonholing.

He's clearly a troll but it's fun to engage because we got nothing else...I mean, in the history of the world nobody has ever uttered the phrase "If you like Better Days...you will love this"

There are two distinctions that need to be made when saying it sounds like Lightning Bolt:

Does it sound like the band sounds on Lightning Bolt
or
Does it sound like Ed sounds on Lightning Bolt?

Ed is pivotal.

So, I don't know how much we're actually trusting KidC right now, but the tequila he said was served at this thing, the label matches the bottle Ed's holding in that Instagram photo.

I dunno if there are other photos floating around, but it's not that identifiable in the IG pic. He might be legit.

I can verify the user on this board and the twitter account he said was his, are in fact the same person.

Hmmm ... I think I can get with this. I generally think LB is pretty darn strong but LTRP and SBM are just well below subpar and take the wind out of the end of the album. I do agree that the Yellow Moon bridge is a standout. I'm generally more like Kid C as a fan .... I'm probably gonna be pretty happy. Heck with all of you cranks.
