Speaking in video footage seen online, the unnamed woman says: ‘I’m in the area where the coronavirus started. I’m here to tell the truth. At this moment, Hubei province, including Wuhan area, even China, 90,000 people have been infected by coronavirus.’

Are people dying in large numbers from this? For all of the panic I've only read about a few deaths. So this is like a strong flu or what?

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
China says only 41 people there have died but health experts in the US are saying that number is likely very lower than reality.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
China is still pretending they dont have 900,000 Muslims in concentration camps, so who knows if their numbers are real. All US citizens and diplomats are being evacuated from the affected provinces. So it’s not undeadlyE.H. Ruddock wrote:Are people dying in large numbers from this? For all of the panic I've only read about a few deaths. So this is like a strong flu or what?

i think that Xi Jinping has already talked about this means it's actually much worse than what's out there officially

but this just doesn't seem like it's going lead to anything good

I guess the US is still receiving flights from there but it just seems like a terrible ideaJapan, expecting 400,000 Chinese tourists this week, advised staff at airports and shops to wear face masks while serving customers, something usually considered inappropriate for public-facing employees. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said airlines arriving in Japan had been asked to distribute health surveys and advise customers to report symptoms, while checks had also been stepped up for people arriving by cruise ship.

Scientists at the respected MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis in the UK have warned that it may not be possible to contain the virus to China.
They say self-sustaining human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus is the "only plausible explanation" for the scale of the epidemic.
Their calculations estimate each infected person is passing it onto, on average, 2.5 other people.
The centre praised the efforts of the Chinese authorities, but said transmission of the virus needed to be cut by 60% in order to get on top of the outbreak.
This is a massive challenge, the scientists suggest, which will require finding and isolating even patients with only mild symptoms that could easily be confused with other diseases.
Elsewhere, a team at Lancaster University have published their estimates of the number of cases suggesting 11,000 have been infected this year. If true, that would be more than Sars.

I just hope the high transmission rate doesn't reflect a high mortality rate.96583UP wrote:https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51249208

Nature.com had a story in 2017 about a maximum security facility in Wuhan in China that was studying the deadliest diseases and viruses. One of a network of new across China.
Not to go tin foil hat but this is bio warfare. They probably have a vaccine too.
Millions of Chinese leaving the country on holiday this week for Chinese New Year.
Ps I’m renaming this the Kung Flu

i picture a sars mask with 'Kung Flu' written across the front in a red circle with a line through it. only $19.95
what better way for Gen Z to ironicize their predicament while protecting themselves
basically
