Pearl Jam works in all styles for me. I prefer the classic rock influence when they nail it, but they need to be careful since you can’t help but compare it their own classics. DotC gets to stand on its own

Pearl Jam always aped a range of styles and wore their influences garishly on their sleeve; to their detractors, this isn't a new problem, so in that sense at least, DotC is business as usual; the problem has been that since Riot Act, those attempts to branch out have sounded increasingly cartoonish; I'm happy that DotC is even a minuscule hint at course-correcting
