They have done some decidedly un-epic "epic shows" over the last few years.
the problem w/ "epic shows" is that they kinda have a blueprint now. people pretty much expect what they are going to hear in an encore of an "epic show".

i think the most "epic" thing they've done since probably 2005 is playing a song w/ jay z. and not just b/c i was there, b/c it was awesome and unexpected.
Maybe, but "An Evening with Pearl Jam" and no opening band suggests a Benny-like set. Add in PJ's ever more powerful hype machine and you've got a lot fans who will pleased with nothing less than an hour long acoustic set followed by Lost Dogs live. I'm not sure anything the band delivers can live up to the hype that will surround the weeks before Wrigley.

I know it was pretty Damn hot in September when we were there for a day or so before pj20 so im thinking it can be pretty bad in July. I was there for 4th of July like 4 or 5 years ago, but don't remember what the temps were

Depends. I haven't lived there in a few years, but it shouldn't be horrible. Typically it doesn't get unbearably hot/humid until August.

weather.com lists 70-84 as the average temps for July. Either way, still be prepared to sweat your balls off. Weather changes really quick.

but the problem with that is its just some random song i havent heard before, if i dont know the song then it can be hard to get as into it live, but ive ive heard it on the album a few times at least then i know it, might be able to sing along, stuff like that.

the first time i heard 'i got shit' was on the red rocks bootleg. and from the first listen i loved it. same with 'of the earth'. i love to hear songs ive never heard before as long as they are good. i know some songs take a few listens to 'get' but nothing like the first time you hear a song and you know you love it. that can happen at a concert or in your living room.

The problem with hearing it live first is Ed :) He's terrible with lyrics he's sang for 20 years. Throws the whole band off. I hope they play new songs at Wrigley, don't do so well, and he's forced to work on them and perfect them before I get to see them later in the tour 8-)

of the earth is the main one for me that makes me nervous about hearing new songs live first, i love it now, but i was at the Dublin show where they first played it, and while i was able to figure out that it was the song i thought i had heard about as a left over from Avocado, i didnt know where the song was going or anyhting like that so it wasnt as enjoyable as if i heard it again now. i was in no way disappointed, its very cool to get to say i was there for its first time being played, but if i have my choice, i want to know the song a bit before hearing it live.

the middle of 'of the earth' is a bathroom break, but from the heeeeeheeeee heeee heeeee's on it rings true with my soul. first time i heard 'american in me' live, i wanted to hear it again too. but sometimes live first then becomes the version you prefer to hear. that happened with i got shit. i was so used to live i didn't care as much for the merkinball version. also sunday bloody sunday from live at red rocks kills the album version.

Am I the only one really confused why 1 of 2 North American shows is in London Ontario (I realize they said more dates will come in the fall, but still)??
