Driver's commitment to these bits is outstanding. It doesn't matter how good or bad, how funny or stupid, I could watch that man perform all day long. His opening monologue was fucking great. And it wasn't anything.

He's a god among men.

I thought there were a couple great skits including the science teacher, clogged toilet, and the ketchup sketch, and the tacos ketch. I laughed pretty good.



Halsey is incredibly sexy but awful.

Yeah, man, the ketchup skit was probably my favorite. Driver just slayed that. But I didn't think this was an awful episode. Fairly mediocre with some great moments.

Yes. Which is standard SNL for a long long time.

Does he have a background in improv before he made it big? Because things like his opener, and just how natural he is with dealing with the SNL cast trying not to laugh while it doesn't get to him in the slightest... seems obvious he does have some improv training/background. He's so good at staying the course while everyone is breaking down around him.

Driver is far too good to be lowering himself to the level of this show. Performers should start saying no to this garbage in its current state. We can do better.

Watching that monologue I thought, "holy shit Driver could do stand up!" I'm not saying he should. But obviously the skill sets for being an actor and being a comedian are very different. There are a ton of brilliant actors out there that could never be stand-ups. And we can all name a dozen stand-ups that have no business acting. But Driver could do either and excel.

But I don't know about an improv background. I'm sure he covered it at one point or another in his training. But I think his ability to do what you're describing has more to do with how he prepares and his focus than it does improv specifically.

The science teacher sketch was pretty good but Driver's straight faced commitment to the Medieval Times & ketchup sketches saved them both. As noted before even his monologue was better than average.
It's been nice to see the guy from Girls career explode like it has.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Did Joe Montana host once? I feel like I remember him on the show for at least one skit and I remember it fondly. Not sure why. Can't recall if he was good in it or if it was just really funny in spite of how bad he was or if it was just one of those so bad it's good things.

I think the only great athletic hosts have been Eli Manning (surprisingly great) and The Rock (does he count as an athlete?). They are almost never good. Wayne Gretzky was probably the worst.

Jordan didn't do too bad. His sketch with Stuart Smalley was especially memorable.
