I listened to this song four (more) times on the walk home from the train last night and I'm continually physically affected by it. It reminds me of hearing Riot Act for the firs time in the sense that it really sticks in me. It's mood and what it evokes in me is so palpable and visceral. I've heard it now more than three dozen times and I keep finding new things to love, new roads in.

The truth is I never thought Pearl Jam would be capable of making me feel like this again. Because I'm not 16 anymore. Because I've found new artists and outlets. Because I really though of them as middle aged men who are comfortable in their skin, in their place, in their work and not looking to stretch or challenge but to inspire and (pardon the obvious metaphor) ride that wave...

I'm stunned at how listenable and memorable and meaningful this song is to me right now. I loved Ole. I liked CDM more than everyone else. But this? This is a completely different level. I just can not believe Pearl Jam had this song in them and that they wanted to release it this late in their careers. What a fucking statement.

The best band in the world, my favorite band of all time... is fucking back. Even if the rest of the album is unlistenable, how about DOTC?! I mean...
