I'm stunned at how listenable and memorable and meaningful this song is to me right now. I loved Ole. I liked CDM more than everyone else. But this? This is a completely different level. I just can not believe Pearl Jam had this song in them and that they wanted to release it this late in their careers. What a fucking statement.
The best band in the world, my favorite band of all time... is fucking back. Even if the rest of the album is unlistenable, how about DOTC?! I mean...

I keep going back to Stone saying "it's not the record that any one of us individually would have made" and "it's really us"
I think both of those are very positive statements; I mean, their good records weren't taken over by any particular members' tastes and the "bad" records kind of were
I hope that by "us" he means to an extent that fans will recognise as PJ
