It's a show about insanely wealthy people in their 70s, I love it

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I mean yes you're right, from a thematic standpoint it is about many other things. But I did have those thoughts while watching the new season:
- Ah, l'd kind of forgotten that this show is largely about the lives of the mega-wealthy
- This must be the oldest ensemble cast on television right now

I started watching season 1 about 18 months ago or so. I'm about halfway through season 4 now.

As this glacial pace might suggest, I don't love it.

I like it OK most of the time but it doesn't really hit for me in the way that I'd hoped.

... it's mostly just a show about Larry David and his ongoing obsession with the minutiae of social interactions/daily life.

I love this idea and wish I got more out of the actual show, as I really enjoy (and in some respects relate to) Larry as a character.

It's very much the same humor as Seinfeld, just in a different setting, without a laugh track, and otherwise unencumbered by the parameters of 90s network television.

This feels like a very uncool admission but I prefer Seinfeld and think that show arguably did that idea more enjoyably, at least for me.

The humor is similar but Seinfeld also feels very different in that it's a scripted show while Curb is largely improv-based.

I agree with this. I mostly find curb funny because I specifically find Larry funny.
