Re: The Official GIGATON Thread (real tracklists released!)
The last PJ album I listened to fresh (without a leak) is Binaural. The lack of information for this album is kinda nuts.
Of course, it doesn't come out for months so who knows but I'd love for something to leak so I can measure my expectations.
The band is squarely in the classic rock touring band stage of their career but I'm holding out hope they have a few more gems left in them.

the first time i heard binaural was on triple j in australia. they were playing the album in full over the week before it was released i believe. remember hearing thin air in the car and my dad lovin' it.Homeboyd wrote:The last PJ album I listened to fresh (without a leak) is Binaural.
first time i heard riot act was out of order tracks downloaded from kazaa. not the most romantic first listen.
and i was on was on 'ere for the leak of avocado.
yield was out before i discovered the band.
so i guess i've never really had a full fresh listen to a new album.

The Riot Act leak was amazing. I remember sitting there for 5 hours waiting for the out-of-order compressed mp3's to download from Kazaa on my dial up modem.

Leak or no leak I'm actually gonna wait until the album drops before I listen to any of it. That's right, I haven;t heard Dance of the Clairvoyants. I'm at a stage in my life where there are so many other things going on in my life I feel I can, that'm not totally hanging on a leak, a sudden album drop etc. that said I am looking forward to a fully fresh listen.Homeboyd wrote:the first time i heard binaural was on triple j in australia. they were playing the album in full over the week before it was released i believe. remember hearing thin air in the car and my dad lovin' it. first time i heard riot act was out of order tracks downloaded from kazaa. not the most romantic first listen. and i was on was on 'ere for the leak of avocado.

Binaural was my last 'going in cold' listen.

Yeah, this. Not listening to DotC is missing out big time. Opting out of actual leaks is fine, refusing official single releases is crazy.stip wrote:Im at the stage of my life where I could die tomorrow and would be pissed I could have heard the songs but didnt

i have memories of interacting with TSIS in 98. I didnt even know TSIS and RM were separate sitesPeeps wrote:i might be the longest tenured. i believe i started posting back in 98-99 when red mosquito and the sky i scrape were different boards and then if im not mistaken it was scott and bigmama decided to link the two togetherSuperblood Wolfmoon wrote:I go back to Master/Slave. i remember the general chat forum was a place i didnt venture and just posted in the pj forum. one few too may times veering off topic scott suggested i take a look at the general chat
the mods i can recall from back then were LT (candle avatar), hinny, bigmamma, scott. once the boards were intergrated then each sub forum had a different mods who patrolled those forums specifically, with athletic supporter, jim, and a few others that are escaping me (although thinking on that i think AS and jim were then modded after the board was recovered (see next paragraph)
then there was a board blowup and there was a separate board started and then that blew up (it may have been part of my war with ced and cement something or other) but then we all made amends and the new board was re-established. probably 2 years after that was the great invasion of balki, clark, pjdoll, shitz and sara

Re: The Official GIGATON Thread (real tracklists released!)
there was a message board that shut down and directed everyone here probably around the time of binaural. wtf was the board that closed down?
also, read all the links in the articles thread. it sounds like the band is reinvigorated by this album. the track-by-track breakdown still seems like a pearl jam album, but the reviews from the listening party are encouraging.

I think that was after a Riot Act. The dude that ran it just said he hated it and was done with the band and the message board and his website and that was that. I posted on that board then came here. It was 2002 or 2003.warehouse wrote:there was a message board that shut down and directed everyone here probably around the time of binaural. wtf was the board that closed down?

No wait, there was another message board in between, from the Given to Wail site.

The former was the master/slave board, which shut down in 2002. I posted there with Athletic Supporter and some others, then started posting here sometime in 2002/2003.liebzz wrote:I think that was after a Riot Act. Ah yes, the good old days. I'm pretty sure the first time I heard "You Are" from that leak, I was 100% sure that I had downloaded the wrong link. "That's not Pearl Jam!"WtOB? wrote:first time i heard riot act was out of order tracks downloaded from kazaa. not the most romantic first listen.
That whole Riot Act leak was pretty much what began my internet posting journey. I was mostly just reading Five Horizons as much as possible but I needed something more rabid and interactive and I eventually discovered TSIS.
