collectively, the five core members are worth hundreds of millions. couldn't they just all chip in a few million and set up all the crew for life and call it a day?Bammer wrote:They (Ed?) have spoken about how it’s a huge entity/enterprise now and they employ a bunch of people and provide their livelihood, and feel responsible for those peoples’ well-being.Birds in Hell wrote:I feel like at some point in the last ten years this became one of the primary reason they're still an active band.tragabigzanda wrote:Pretty sure they're trying to provide fun and stable jobs for their friends
I imagine the obligations that brings must be difficult to manage - knowing that if they decided to split, they're putting their friends out of work. Easier to stick together in the most low obligation way possible, play a handful of shows every year, etc - it's not like it's hard work and it also allows them to fund causes they're passionate about.
I’m paraphrasing.

You know, for all the dumb posting over at the Pit, there are some good points over there in the main holiday single thread that is on the first page. Basically putting these out now doesn't represent any new revenue to them, while the single/album/RSD release do. They've already gotten our money for these singles. They don't seem scared about any lawsuits. It is basically them (the band? management?) being greedy, lazy, or both. Either way, it is a hug FUCK YOU to a loyal fanbase.

I'd rather they concentrate on making decent albums than making shitty fan club singles any kind of priority

Not delivering on membership benefits that were paid for (while they continue to churn out other merchandise) is really indefensible.
They should probably just refund those analog members their fees for those years at this point.

7 years between albums, pretty sure they have a day to put together two singles and send to fans that paid for a product they were promised.Ms Harmless wrote:I'd rather they concentrate on making decent albums than making shitty fan club singles any kind of priority

This is probably the most likely outcome at this point sadly.Birds in Hell wrote:Yeah, I agree.E.H. $20 a person more for an analog membership x 100,000 memberships = $2 million per 100k analog members per year -> prob like 300,000k analog members -> 2 years undelivered singles (or is it 3?) -> est. $12 million received by 10C for records never issued

Oh, I absolutely don't expect they would ever refund people those fees, even if I think that's the responsible thing to do at this point.bune wrote:that's not even close to likely barring a class action of some point. I don’t think they have $10 million in cash they are just sitting on to give backBirds in Hell wrote:Oh, I absolutely don't expect they would ever refund people those fees, even if I think that's the responsible thing to do at this point.bune wrote:that's not even close to likely barring a class action of some point. I'm reminded of the cereal-box records that were all the rage when I was growing up.
