I know it's a small portion of the song, but I wasn't overly impressed

Really not much to go on but it sounds a little kumbaya if you know what I mean

"River Cross" sounds a lot like "Present Tense" in terms of chord structure and that's no bad thing at all

big No Code / Binaural / Riot Act feel

It sounded OK but it's not much to go on.

I thought Ed's vocals sounded (in that brief snippet) better recorded than on the last few albums, so that's encouraging.

If you mean kinda dull, then yeah. The song as a whole might be great, but this snippet isn't doing it for me

there's no way to get much of a feel from that snippet. the organ sounds good?

the commercial is clearly going for uplifting but i hope the track has a little more despair in it.

let's recap where this came from and why criticisms about it being 'sad' seem out of place:

1) Chris Cornell commits suicide

2) Ed on solo tour performs a cover of Fugazi's 'I'm So Tired' as an under-the-rader tribute to CC

3) Ed begins to jam out on the pump organ prior to playing the Fugazi cover

4) Ed writes lyrics to the pump organ jam and performs it as 'Share the Light'

5) The song is renamed 'River Cross'

Them using it in a TV commercial about first responders, where if you RT it donates $1 to Vitalogy Foundation, is not quite PRAMG

I find the chords of the organ pull on those heart strings for me; it seems like a song asking for hope in a time of exhaustion (Present Tense) and there's a cold atmosphere to it, for me
