Though to be fair... I don't think I'll ever be the runner you were/will be again.

I don't know dude. We'd both be in the same corral at a marathon. The runners between fats and elites are all pretty similar.durdencommatyler wrote:verb_to_trust wrote:Joey will rise from my shoulder scope ashes to be the runner I once wasdurdencommatyler wrote:I think my foot is finally better. Very true.
But again, to be fair, I don't think we'd be friends in real life because of how fat I am.

Severity didn't affect the duration, but I was able to do light stuff and still have it go away in 4 weeks. If I didn't slow down, I would've slammed the nerve again. Fuckin thing.Self wrote:Pinched nerve started acting up on Monday. Tried to push through with some light weights Tuesday, but had to shut it down. I do not wanna go through the full blown arm on fire thing again. That sucked. Hopefully only a week or so, instead of 4-6 weeks.

Also, good luck, Verb. Not sure if you did it on purpose, but I always schedule repairs during the winter. It'd suck if you were held together by rubber bands in July.

It was indeed by design to go in the dead of winter. I actually wanted a date a few weeks ago but couldn't get the scheduling right.

Where's Verb?
I think I'm in trouble. I was just outside walking in the very lovely snow. I turned a corner and heard a huge flapping sound. All these birds started leaving a tree at once. Maybe they were birds. The first thing I thought was "bats!", and i turned to run and fell right down. My shoulder/upper arm hit the corner of the curb.
No bats came at me thank heavens.
But now I can't lift my arm forward or to the side. I can move it up with my other arm but I can't hold it there. I can bend at the elbow fine as long as my upper arm is straight down.
If I go to lift my left arm as if to type at a keyboard, that first little go motion causes pain.
There's no pain when my arm is dangling there or when I press all around it with my right hand-. I just can't move it
Am I f*ed?

Re: Discuss your injuries ITT
I had surgery because of repeated shoulder dislocations. The dislocations tear the labrum most commonly, sometimes the rotator cuff is also damaged. A torn up labrum results in instability in the joint and you're just in a cycle at that point. Like 90 percent of people who dislocate their shoulder once will do it again.
I wouldn't be too worried as long as you didn't feel a pop. Sometimes the shoulder can "sublex" , which means it pops out, but pops right back in again. I would take it easy, ice it and as long as you are feeling gradual improvement not go rushing to the doctor or anything. Lots of people have knicked up shoulders and are able to go about their business fine.

Re: Discuss your injuries ITT
Yes I was reading about your surgery & progress and ice machine and snorting oxys, etc
How are you doing now?
I did not hear a pop and was surprised to not be able to move it. I will ice it and hopefully I can sleep . This shoulder already had a problem, certain specific motions would hurt it and cause a crunchy/grindy sound . Thanks for the advice.

Re: Discuss your injuries ITT
I'm immobilized in a sling for probably 4 more weeks. I get my stitches out Monday and go back to work Tuesday so at least there will be some return to normalcy. I hate my job but I just can't bring myself to enjoy time off like this. It really messes with my mental state. My PT says I won't be able to run again until 10 weeks at earliest so I'm going to be an irritable mess until then.
I'm guessing your situation will gradually improve and you won't have to take extreme measures like me. But go see a doctor if you don't get your pain free range of motion back.
