What do you do at work?verb_to_trust wrote:I'm immobilized in a sling for probably 4 more weeks. I get my stitches out Monday and go back to work Tuesday so at least there will be some return to normalcy. I hate my job but I just can't bring myself to enjoy time off like this. It really messes with my mental state. My PT says I won't be able to run again until 10 weeks at earliest so I'm going to be an irritable mess until then.
I'm guessing your situation will gradually improve and you won't have to take extreme measures like me. But go see a doctor if you don't get your pain free range of motion back.

Desk job. The only concern I have is driving between offices and such. I think I should be able to take the sling off. Drive. Then put it back on, but doctors have consistently tried to ruin my life for a decade now.knee tunes wrote:What do you do at work?verb_to_trust wrote:I'm immobilized in a sling for probably 4 more weeks. As long as you don't have to type alot I guess,..unless you pull the keyboard right up to you and type like t-rex.
That's what I checked , if I would be able to type. the way my shoulder is now--no way. Unless i use just my right hand or t-rex it

Is your keyboard wireless? Mine is, so what I was thinking was to just have it on my lap. Maybe bring one of those bean bag lap trays used for reading to make that more comfortable.knee tunes wrote:As long as you don't have to type alot I guess,..unless you pull the keyboard right up to you and type like t-rex.

Re: Discuss your injuries ITT
My sister (who is a nurse) is taking me either to ER or Ortho walk- in today.
It's pretty bad. Sleeping was bad , every little movement made me wince. I need a sling because I can't find any position to put it that doesn't hurt. She thinks I may have broken it which from what I read may be a better prognosis than torn stuff. I guess we'll find out.

Re: Discuss your injuries ITT
X-rays revealed no dislocation or fractures. I didnt think they would--there was no tenderness or black & blue. They suspect I tore something because i have no arm strength at all
i have my useless arm in a sling until I see ortho tomorrow. Goshdarnit.
Also. The bats in my state either hibernate or migrate in the winter. Frickin crows

That sucks. I really hope you don't need surgery. It blows.

They won't encourage you to drive but it's not illegal either. I just clip out of my sling when I'm in the car and the bad arm steers from the 6. Anything super high traffic goes to my wife for now though.knee tunes wrote:No way. So no driving or work ?verb_to_trust wrote:My Physicians Assistant saw his shadow, four more weeks of sling

So do they think PT can get you stable, and you can then elect for surgery down the road? For me, it was nice scheduling it in the middle of winter when I had nothing going on.
Hope everything goes well!

Re: Discuss your injuries ITT
Alright, so the right heel is basically back to normal now. No more crazy pain/inflammation. But about two weeks ago my left knee starting acting like an asshole. That seems better now, too.
I've been focusing on the elliptical machine to minimize impact on joints/tendons but also trying to simulate running form to some degree. I take a lot of steps in a day and nothing seems exacerbated by that.
BUT... now all of a sudden my goddamn left toe is flaring up. Swollen. Red. And my toenail is all blue and discolored and gross looking. Today, finally, the pain in my toe is gone. Doesn't hurt to touch the nail or anything. But it still looks like it's bruised badly underneath.
