Yeah, I interpreted that "never felt right" comment as "We've never been able to do a studio version we like enough". Maybe they gave up and now just see it as their "Naked Eye".Strat wrote:Mike wrote:I don't think the inclusion of SBM has anything to do with the exclusion of OTE. Pearl Jam just don't seem to like their studio versions of that song too much. I bet they didn't even try again this time.
I dont think it has to do with the band not liking it.
Vedder made comments about OTE on that SA interview he did on pjradio prior to one of their last shows. He was mumbling on about how it never felt right, blah blah blah...

The irony is, The Who is one of my dad's favourite bands but he doesn't like late PJ that much. So is this desire even working?

Does anyone else think this record might fall apart in the second half?

I expect it to be an enjoyable hodgepodge. Sleeping By Myself -> Yellow Moon might be pretty cool even though every reviewer seems to dislike SBM.

It depends...harmless wrote:Does anyone else think this record might fall apart in the second half?
I guess if Yellow Moon is good and if re-releasing SBM makes sense (meaning, they managed to change it up a bit to make it a "full band effort"), THEN.... MAYBE.... even FD will be forgiven.
And we'll be off to a great record ending.
Or we could something else <---LOL at this
(sorry but this thread has worn me out, even if I posted maybe only once in it)

My favourite album is No Code, and for me, that has a pretty bad second half, bar Present Tense. I just lack confidence that they can come up with a first half to match the first half of No Code, thus making the lame second half feel even worse.harmless wrote:Does anyone else think this record might fall apart in the second half?

It's like he's in the room.
How many of these do you think he'll hit during the coming LB interviews? I'm thinking everything except stick shifting. Apparently we already got waves in the EPK . Maybe ill turn this into a drinking game.

Oh wait, I just checked, and by "second half", I mean Habit and the last 3 songs.ABNorman wrote:My favourite album is No Code, and for me, that has a pretty bad second half, bar Present Tense. I think it might be a fairly solid 2/3. The last 3 tracks could be where it dies in the arse.harmless wrote:Does anyone else think this record might fall apart in the second half?

Well, with just over a month to go I expect the next few weeks will be super busy.
Is anyone going to be updating the first page with goings on? Stip?

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
the main page? B takes care of that. Anything newsworthy will be up there for sure, although it may be posted here first, and there may be a lag if B can't get to it for a little bit. If it is something incredibly important I may just put up a text post but normally I wait for B since he makes it all look so much nicer.dimejinky99 wrote:Well, with just over a month to go I expect the next few weeks will be super busy.

I don't mind FD as much as everyone else, but considering the "theme" that this album seems to have, FD's positioning on the album makes sense and could make it less objectionable.
The "I believe" part of the song actually is quite nice and sticks in your head a bit.

Ah thanks man. I'm not here to terrorise your neighbourhood as much as I used to be. Been missing lots of stuff. Hoping some interviews at least, start to pop up. Band interviews about new records are sort of redundant, we've heard it all before, but with this one I'd be genuinely interested in hearing their thoughts on the whole thing.
Pj never really reveal anything, other than the standard 'we really enjoyed making his one and its our best one yet' but I think this time might be different.
