I think you guys are trying to find extreme or obscure examples to his statement, when in fact his post is correct. Unless you are talking about the animated film "Cars". Those are both characters and automobiles

You guys are being deliberately dense with these clearly different examples. If a non-human object such as a house or a car exhibits sentience or will in a story, that’s obviously something totally different than saying the house in Parasite or NYC in a Woody Allen movie is “a character.”
