Re: the BoB fade out archive
Worst fade outs ranked:
1. Habit
2. Corduroy
3. Life Wasted - this one didn’t bother me until I heard version w/o the fade.
4. Johnny Guitar.
All the rest sound fine to me.

I don’t mind that it fades out, but it should go on for another minute before it does. Cut out Pry, to it they needed the time back.tragabigzanda wrote:The Corduroy one is perfect, it would be worse if it came to an actual stop

It’s insane to want the best moment on the album and possibly the best moment in the entire catalog to continue while it still has momentum even if it means cutting a mostly meaningless, though decent filler track?

They weren't divvying up the minutes deciding how many seconds go where . To think that's how it goes is the insane partMatters wrote:It’s insane to want the best moment on the album and possibly the best moment in the entire catalog to continue while it still has momentum even if it means cutting a mostly meaningless, though decent filler track?

I've always thought this and the studio ending never settles with me well.

Please don’t. If you can’t live without Pry, then cut a minute off Mop. Or is that essential too? I like all these songs btw.

Well for vinyl, don’t both sides of the album need to be similar lengths? Isn’t that where the term “filler” originally came from? To “fill” the side of an album? Maybe I’m way off here.knee tunes wrote:They weren't divvying up the minutes deciding how many seconds go where . Re: the BoB fade out archive
before many of the songs started to suck, I accepted the premature, awkward fadeouts as deliberately quirky innovations; this is (was) the band that wrote "Bugs" and "Foxy Mop", and also faded out "Wishlist" halfway through
so I don't think I'd care that, for example, the "Life Wasted" solo was too short, if I didn't feel the song needed that solo to lift it from pretty OK to really good
that said, I'm looking forward to these longer runtimes on the new album

lightning bolt is the worst - it cuts the song off just as it starts to climax
