I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I love Rushmore but this thing...what a shame.

yeah my buddy texted me yesterday all "OMG"ing. I couldn't muster the fake enthusiasm he was looking for.

And i can see their confused faces when i say to them : Wes Anderson is a good interior decorator. He has been one for the last 10 or 15 years

And they go like...fuck, i thought you love movies!

I used to love Anderson. Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Fantastic Mr. Fox - great stuff. But I felt he relaxed into a kind of limp, late-career artistic shorthand starting with The Grand Budapest Hotel, and this looks like more of the same. I just can’t do it.

I should revisit Life Aquatic. The first (and only) time I saw it I was wildly underwhelmed. Did not like.

I used to love Anderson. Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Fantastic Mr. Fox - great stuff. But I felt he relaxed into a kind of limp, late-career artistic shorthand starting with The Grand Budapest Hotel, and this looks like more of the same. I just can’t do it.

Moonrise Kingdom, Grand Budapest, and Isle of Dogs were all awful

These are three of my favorite Wes Anderson films.

I liked Moonrise but I’m scared to revisit it. Didn’t even bother watching Isle; trailers were so boring.

Imagine liking Fantastic Mr. Fox so much that you listened to the soundtrack almost exclusively for a period of time and watched the movie once or twice a week for a few months. Now imagine someone took your ipod and threw it into a fully overflowing portapotty and then dropped a fresh deuce right on it. then they took your nice and fresh Criterion copy of the movie and defaced it with a box knife before yeeting the discs into the interstate.

That's what watching Isle of Dogs was like for my son.

That said I really liked the taiko drumming on the soundtrack.
