Maybe not, but he is the reason why they speed up their stuff to an incredible rate, having started off at a reasonable tempo.

Even with the songs he hasn't started, Matt Cameron usually speeds them up. The intro to Corduroy is ridiculous for this reason.

The guitar sets the tone for Corduroy. Listen to how that intro started in 1998.

Of course the guitar sets the tone for Corduroy. I've heard it. I'm saying that when the drums come in, in a couple of seconds he's sped the previous riff up considerably. It's like Matt hasn't been listening. It's all the more noticeable with all his kick drumming and ride cymbal tinkling.

And it happens with way more songs than just Corduroy.

Corduroy worked in 1998 because Matt didn't speed it up when he came in.

What I'm saying is now the song is already sped up before Matt even comes in.

OK, that's cool and you're probably right. But it doesn't help that Matt speeds it up even further. I don't know the best live example to give you, but it's like woah... If I'd done that, my band's lead singer / guitarist would've told me to rehearse the shit out of that.

Thanks, just tipping my toes in the water of the PJ community world. I'll also lose my life and do some silly things with Audacity and wait for the chords to be struck on a slowed down version of Tremor Christ.
