Hitchhiker I sorta get, but not the QOTSA comparisons. This sounds nothing like Queens.

The best Ed voice is in Vs and VItalogy, by far.

I'm confused.
Most recognizable, yes. Best? Debatable.

I listened to the clip.

I should not have listened to the clip.

it's not that it's bad per se, it's just that it's a clip and without the rest of the song it's kind of...bad.

Yeah, I get this. I said earlier in the thread it reminded me of QotSA/Josh Homme, but maybe that is what I was hearing?

I still find the riff uninspired (melody-wise, the tone is fine) so I hope there are more ear-tickling chord progressions elsewhere, and even though guitar solos aren't my thing, they can lift a song to a more energetic place

I don't mean modern day QOTSA
I'm talking 1st album / Desert Sessions 1-4 type sound

Zuh? This sounds even less like Queens' first album than modern Queens and it doesn't sound like either.

In 00-04 he was in his late thirties.

I love his voice, no matter the timeline, but from 92 to 96 he was an absolute beast. All the power and feeling in the world, second to no one.

I can vouch for this. :)

I am also a big fan of Ed's 2006 tour voice. Say what you will about some of the Avacado songs, but Sad, Light Years, MOtH, Reign O'er Me, G2F never sounded any better than they did during this period.
