I'm confused.
I love his voice, no matter the timeline, but from 92 to 96 he was an absolute beast. All the power and feeling in the world, second to no one.
I am also a big fan of Ed's 2006 tour voice. Say what you will about some of the Avacado songs, but Sad, Light Years, MOtH, Reign O'er Me, G2F never sounded any better than they did during this period.

I should go back and listen to some '06 shows. Nothing will top 2000, but I'm realizing that I was mixing up '06 and '08 as far as when I first started wishing they'd lay off certain songs. Leash/Blood back-to-back at the '08 Hartford show was the exact moment.evenslow wrote:yep he was really fantastic in '06.Oversize wrote:I can vouch for this.DeeDee wrote:In 00-04 he was in his late thirties.stip wrote:its the best we will get with a singer in his 50s who did not take care of his voice. it is good enoughDeeDee wrote:The best Ed voice is in Vs and VItalogy, by far.Jaeti wrote:This Ed voice is the best Ed voice, and this general tone is Pearl Jam's best tone. Of course, who knows, on a boot, maybe it's not as bad as I recall.

I really wish I saw later in the tour than the Chicago shows in 2006. They were good, but got better and better as the year progressed.

I fell backwards towards the ground and saw a crowd of people obscure my vision and block out the sky. I thought: "This is where I die." Then someone pulled me up. I shouted thanks, saw him point behind me and saw the poor, twisted, broken wreckage of the woman I had unknowingly fallen on top of behind me.Ms Harmless wrote:haha OMGJuvenal wrote:Had to get pulled out of the pit during Even Flow thereMs Harmless wrote:I watched them at Reading Festival 2006, tbh they were amazing

The vocal layering is a bit Hitchhikerish but other than that I don’t think they sound similar at all.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

Just cranked this a few times in my car. It's not much to go on but that little riff is already way more interesting than anything in the paint-by-numbers power chord mail it in job of the MYM/CDM variety.

Seeing our varied interpretations of this minuscule snippet of the song really underscores how unreliable the various impressions from the listening party may prove to be.

Yeah, I think it's this and the register he's singing in that warrant the hitchhiker comparison. Other than that, it's a very new sound for PJ.Thejambi wrote:The vocal layering is a bit Hitchhikerish but other than that I don’t think they sound similar at all.
