Another thing about Lightning Bolt:
SBM might be a "Soon Forget" like-track, which at first seemed out-of-place on Binuaral, but eventually grew to reflect the vibe on that album somehow, yet impossible to understand when listening to the album in a room full of noisy critics more interested in filling their stomach than listening to new PJ.

Oh there were definitely layers. I really hesitated writing "3" in there. Songs like Can't Keep, Ghost, You Are, Help Help, All or None and Bushleager were all superb on headphones.harmless wrote:The last 2-3? You didn't find layers on Riot Act? Were you sleeping?
Backspacer sounded fine to me, but not much deeper than something like VS on the cans.

MYM sounds good on headphones especially for PJ standards. Hopefully it's the same mastering as on the album.

S/T is the only pj album I've found didn't reveal much with headphones. But even then headphones still made everything feel louder and more immediate, which still helps.

Self Titled is great on headphones if you're a masochist.

Totally agree. There was nothing underneath S/T. Very boring and thin sonically, even more so than Backspacer.stip wrote:S/T is the only pj album I've found didn't reveal much with headphones. But even then headphones still made everything feel louder and more immediate, which still helps.

Agreed. And it's such a shame, because PJ has some songs with a lot of potential.harmless wrote:Totally agree. There was nothing underneath S/T. I love "self-titled", regardless.

Yes and it was a bad artistic choice for most of the songs.harmless wrote:Totally agree. There was nothing underneath S/T. Yup. It seems to me the producer was going for a "back to basics" rock band "live show" approach, but it was just back to boring.Mine wrote:Yes and it was a bad artistic choice for most of the songs.harmless wrote:Totally agree. I do think that life wasted, comatose, and WWS are improved with the enclosed headphone sound because they hit harder (which they should) but those might be the only ones. And that's not to say they couldn't have been even better with different production, etc.

Are Marleys headphones any good? What is a good 50dollar over ear headphone?

It's the side effects of compression mainly. That harshness really hurts a good part of the album.stip wrote:Mine wrote:Yes and it was a bad artistic choice for most of the songs.harmless wrote:Totally agree. There was nothing underneath S/T. I like s/t, especially some of the live versions of those songs.

Future Days Demo/IEM?

Anybody else listened to this?
Can't tell if it's just the Eddie vox/guitar tracks from the desk at Wrigley or a Demo version.
Pretty crisp/clear audio nonetheless
EDIT: I realise some people probably think i'm talking out of my ass to try and stir rumours, so here:

In fact, with the "sbd" at the end of the title, it most definitely is Ed's Vox/Guitar from the sound desk/In Ear Monitors. Still, nice to not have to listen to the YouTube ones
