MITS
Big Wave
Supersonic

it's not better than MITS but it's way better than the other two

I agree with the people that say that they should repeat the la la las instead of the stunner verse which kills the momentum of the song. That part up to the guitar solo is the worst part of the song.

What a throwaway piece of trash track. Damn, shit's embarrasing! With as much as DoTC is clean and musically excellent, this... this is just noise. How many years have they had to write this album again?
I don't know, don't they have people around them who can honestly stand up and say, guys, stop, don't release this, it's shit!

Also they should do something else with the end besides another chorus. The least they could do would be to repeat the cool riff from the snippet throughout.

Love that first single but this has really tempered my expectations for the album. I get what Kid C said about this album being close to Lightning Bolt.
What I don’t get about PJ anymore is how simplistic and sloppy the playing and chord structure has gotten. Have a look at those first few albums, the chords Stone used added so much colour and were complex to write a melody over. Now it’s sloppy faux punk and sounds lazy

I continue to think the album this sounds most like is Avocado with some Backspacer sensibilities but I can't help feeling like Avocado is just better.
I think it reminds me more of World Wide Suicide than most of the songs people are listing.

Ok so I definitely like that it sounds different and not what I was expecting. It has a “One Way Or Another” vibe to it that my wife pointed out. lol Happy to hear them having fun again. I feel like this is another IDGAF record like No Code. Something out of left field. It took me a few listens but I like it. Odd production with the dubbed double vocals. Overall I gave it a solid 4*.

I totally disagree. I've never heard a song with riffs that sound anything like any of those 4 songs. If they exist, they're obscure.Ms Harmless wrote:they weren't untraditional, though; they just jumped on a bandwagon we thought was coolmikejasond wrote:I have no idea either. I mean isn't it obvious? They're old and out of ideas. At some point any band hits a wall. PJ hit their wall in 2009. While I'm not a DotC stan, I was at least intrigued cause it was different. That has changed and I'm pretty sure Gigaton is not going to be a very exciting listen.Huell wrote:The track list of it leading in lot DOTC is already jarring as hell.

it really does sound like "One Way" by Blondie mixed with The Kinksh2sublime wrote:Ok so I definitely like that it sounds different and not what I was expecting. if they're going to do "new wave" or whatever I just want to hear them enjoying themselves

Go has an awesome riff that is very unique. Both parts are different and remind me of nothing but Go.mikejasond wrote:I totally disagree. What happened is they got old and any attempts to re-capture the old sound would be and has been pretty bad. Sure, they could be the Foo Fighters and make the exact same record for 25 straight years but I'm sure that would be shit upon too. I'm not trying to be an apologist, their last two albums have been uninspired, at best, but DotC and this song at least sound different and interesting to my ears.mikejasond wrote:I have no idea either. OK but they were out of those riffs at least by the time of Lost Dogs, I guess I don't understand still hoping for themmikejasond wrote:I totally disagree. Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
It's not about the same sound necessarily, though I do prefer the old sound. It's also just the...creativity. I don't know any other song that sounds like those songs. I think you could say that for most of the first Pearl Jam albums. Maybe the overall vibe was not unique but the riffs themselves were.Homeboyd wrote:What happened is they got old and any attempts to re-capture the old sound would be and has been pretty bad. Honestly , maybe Stone just used up all his ideas on Ten and Vs. and hasn't had anything interesting to contribute anymore. I'm not even joking. It's like they just gave up and started hitting the same chords over and over again and stopped making unique and interesting riffs after the first few albums.

"Go" has a lot of 80s groove metal influence, I hear Pantera in thereh2sublime wrote:Go has an awesome riff that is very unique. Daughter might be my favorite one because in the right tuning its so simple but sounds so beautiful.
