matt’s drumming in clairvoyants is excellent.
it's solid but uncreative imho
what he’s doing on the second floor tom to his left is one of my favourite things in the song and very creative imho. not to mention he’s playing along to some electric hi hats that he programmed in. he’s a huge creative force in the song.
I know what he's doing and I think "huge creative force" is over-selling it, but I'm glad you're happy, being happy is good

I'm not unhappy or disappointed, I think Gigaton will leave me satisfied at this rate and stage of the band

Couldn't agree more - I get that there's clearly one or two (Mike, maybe Ed) who come into a recording session and say "I want to record a rocker" - let it happen, and then consign it to the b-sides!

Those who called out Big Wave, Supersonic, LTRP...it all applies. What's the point in excluding shitty tracks like 'Can't Deny Me' and including this?

Thanks for the lyrics.

So this is about meeting someone, falling in love but unfortunately they have no interest in you and tell you so? The SBWM is a total lunar eclipse so I assume the protagonist is in a super dark place despite the upbeat nature of the song. His life is going by fast (ageing theme carry over from LB) but he can still rock out.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

This is what I feared we would get after the comment that there would be "definitely some straight ahead rock songs". I was & am still very excited after Dance of the Clairvoyants. But this is a big step down again.

What if this is the worst song on the album?

We could be in for a treat.

I could also wake up tomorrow with a giant dong.

Anything's possible.

I ask for forgiveness, I'm begging myself
feeling angry, now get off the ?

hypnotonic resonance I feel
not much of anything, and the cause is life or death

A life of hopelessness, fucks all your focuses (?)

This life I love is going way too fast

Both my eyes are swollen
my face is broken

I was a prisoner, of keys & the cuffs

I can't disagree with this

it's unfathomable to me why you'd sell a song with the description "straight ahead rock song" alone when nobody else is writing about your album yet

I don't think this song is a million miles away from "Breakerfall"

This song sounds fucking awesome with good speakers/headphones. I’ve got Binaural vibes.

Both this and DOTC sound way better with headphones.

I still think there’s no way they can pull this one off live.

Absolutely. And when did Johnny Guitar become an insult - that song is the highlight on Backspacer. I like the fact that this is a lot looser and less over thought than lightning bolts. From the song lengths and descriptions from the album the next song will be different again.

Imagine what this song would sound like on lightning bolt - vocals overriding the song, Jeff's bass down in the mix and on clean tone, Mike's solo replaced with "patterns", 3 minutes long. On Backspacer, much less dynamic range, thin vocal sound, Jeff even lower in the mix. Too moody for Avocado and too upbeat for Riot Act. Possible Binaural as a sister track to Breakerfall.

For the record I voted this as a 3 though - it is still a middle to below average midsetlist song.
