the intensity of the last verse is a lovely surprise after the breakdown we got on the clip

this is such an odd second single choice, especially following DotC. also a very low stakes second track.
I like how eddie sounds. Dig the layering. I think the la la las are charming
this life i love is going way too fast is a nice punctuation lyric

I can hear you, sing in the distance
I can see you when I close my eyes

I'm feeling selfish and I want what's right
I ask for forgiveness, I'm begging myself
feeling angry, now get off the stage
Right now I feel, a lack of innocence searching for reveal
hypnotonic resonance I feel
not much of anything, and the cause is life or death
A life of hopelessness, fucks all your focusedness
I've been hoping that a hope does last
I don't know anything, I question everything
This life I love is going way too fast
Both my eyes are swollen
my face is broken
And I'm hopin that I hurt your
hopin that I hurt you’re
hopin that I hurt you first
She was a stunner, & I am stunned
And the first thought or second thought was 'could be the one'
I was a prisoner, of keys & the cuffs
Yeah I was feeling fortunate to be locked up
But the world got to spinnin, always felt like it was ending
and love not withstanding we are each of us fucked
I'm in danger, feelin in the distance

Posted this in the Gigaton thread as well. Leaving it here just in case KidCMinus ventures to this thread:
If KidCMinus can see my post, I would really like to know what he has to say about the other rockers on this album in comparison to Superblood Wolfmoon. Specifically, are they also fast paced as far as the vocal delivery goes, with Ed singing wordy lyrics as opposed to a more deliberate pace on songs such as Corduroy? This will help set expectations for the other rockers because stylistically, I much prefer the songs which 'breathe' a bit as opposed to the more punk/garage rock oriented songs that move at breakneck speed. Not that I mind the latter if done well but I would rather have a Corduroy than a STBC to listen to on repeat.

Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

It's hard to tell now but what I loved about DOTC is that it didn't hide a lack of ideas and conviction behind busy-ness. Cant Deny Me was the nadir of this type of song writing but I get a bit that from SBWM. A sign of it in song is Ed's barking and yelping and they spend more time augmenting his performance than writing a song. Such a weird follow up to DOTC, just so bloody jarring

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
the transition into DotC works better then expected - musically and thematically.
We have two songs so this is a small sample but so far this album is an interesting combination of riot acts lost grasping and Backspacers palpable sense of relief - manages to be comforting without being irresponsible or sticking its head in the sand

It's a waste of their talents.
They're in their 50s now. Creative energy is usually gone in most people by their age. The fact that they're making music and seem to have a renewed passion with this album is better than we should expect by now.
Thanks for the info, buddy.
They're starting to destroy their own legacy.
Have you listened to the last 3 albums?

It has some of the same energy as Mind Your Manners, yet not quite as intense or straining, and with Ed singing in a different tone, more like he does for Johnny Guitar (and other songs).

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
these songs as a whole sound more confident in terms of continuity, aesthetic, energy and "legacy" than anything since Riot Act, for me
the video for DotC felt like a mix of Yield and Riot Act, and I'm looking forward to the animated vid for SBWM

Just woke up, hoping this was a dream. Listened again, nope, it's not. I think this was supposed to be on that EP of leftover Backspacer songs.

This is sitting about where PRAMG singles have sat for me: "I like this just fine, but I hope 2/3rds of the album is better than it".

I honestly think they lift each other, placed side by side, and I don't think that's a back-handed compliment; I think it's something I always felt (and liked) about PJ; their songs are stronger together than alonestip wrote:hearing dotc after this makes it even more surprising - what an unexpected gift that song is

I felt confused for most of the song.
It's sticking in my head though, which I'm fine with.

Re: Superblood Wolfmoon
Interesting choice for a single. I like the opening and the riff that’s going on throughout, loving the solo. The lyrics are I don’t know.. there is something about the song. It’s kind of like when my kid takes pieces from three completely different puzzles and puts them all together as one disjointed piece. I look at it and want to like it because it’s my kid and other people see it and say your kids a genius or, is you kid on LSD? Maybe that doesn’t make sense, I don’t know. I’m in the three out of five star range, maybe it will grow on me.

First listen impression: glad I didn’t stay up for this one last night. Yikes. Turns out that snippet was by far the best part of the song. Ed returns to his excessive wordiness. And the music is uninteresting.
Sounds like CDM, Ole, and Supersonic had a 3 way.
Also, what is that sound after the song is over - sounds like a toilet had just been flushed.

Its way better then previous songs like supersonic or cdm. I love the production; the guitars sound cool; there is a groove going...the solo is great and sounds great...and the outtro is pretty good too.
Still; I’m not loving this one. Feels like an ok song and a weird second single....but they are having fun for sure.
