If it is a wrigley iso and it sounds like it is how come nothing bleeds into the vocal mic.

Betterman, if i'm not mistaken, was recorded live onstage (in Atlanta?) for the most part and then overdubbed in the studio and fuck me if i hear any audience noise on it.

I think Betterman was a recorded soundcheck.

Nope. Same performance as the Dissident single/atlanta concert. BOB said as much and chud had synced em all up.

We've already covered this a dozen times. Starting from where the drums come in, it's the Atlanta performance with an acoustic guitar and tambourine overdub. Nothing was re-recorded.

Strange to say, but the clarity and absence of schlocky adornment does make this a somewhat better listen. Best case scenario is that O'Brien gets out of the way and lets this close the new album the way "Dream A Little Dream" closed "Uke Songs"--a sort of manufactured private moment, keyed to the rasp of Ed's aged pipes and the charisma of the delivery, almost such that the composition becomes secondary, which will be a necessary triumph if we're to see past the dreadful lyrics and go-nowhere melody. Unfortunately I anticipate the likelihood of said best case scenario to be profoundly low...

I don't like just breathe or the end really, I thought just breathe was cheesy little did I know ed was just getting started. I like around the bend cause its quiet and unassuming, and has a vaguely Creepy quality to it. Thumbing my way bores the shit out of me and man of the hour is only decent if its live and he sings that end verse higher than the rest. Small town is meh. Dead man and off he goes I love ( do indifference and immortality count? Them too) SOS demo is good, actual track is their worst studio track, but it looks like FD might be tring to dethrone it.

FD is probably the cheesiest thing he's written I think. And even if the lyrics were decent the melody would still be boring as hell. I can't see how whatever brendens gonna do is gonna make it anything other than worse.

If he carries on in this fashion, writing increasingly trite sentimental cheesy music/lyrics, god help us all.

My opinion is that if you like those few acoustic Ed songs, Future Days may be less complex but there's still good stuff in this one that'll hopefully make it grow. If you dislike those other songs, at least this one is no worse than them... even in spite of the simpler structure. It seems to fuse Just Breathe and The End, imo, but I don't think it's as cheesy as Just Breathe (and I liked Just Breathe). Anyway, weirdly, I find this song melodically catchy enough that it's stuck in my craw, and after my poetry gig yesterday I went home on the train, tired as hell and still a little anxious from the performance, with the song in my head. And I napped. So, yanno, a cheesy song for cheesy purposes maybe.

What's the difference between 'The melody is so boring it put me to sleep' and 'The melody is so catchy it stuck in my head and had the effect of a lullaby'? Taste, probably. I think the only super cheesy moment in this song, honestly, is the resolution of the tune in 'Our future days, days of you and me.' But that's a relatively small part. The rest of it has none of the problems of Just Breathe in terms of pronunciation 'Yes I understayeeeend that every life must eeeeyaaaand aw-huh'. And it doesn't sound like BO'B rearranged it to make the bridge the chorus, etc. You've got one of those non-choruses that could be a bridge or it could something else and Ed didn't really care. At least I think we have the original here.
